Iola is an experienced music teacher who has spent nearly seven years studying and teaching to develop strong piano pedagogy skills. She graduated with First Class Honours in the Bachelor of Music from the Royal College of Music, London, through the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA, Singapore).
Alongside her studies, she has taught in music schools, primarily offering one-to-one piano lessons to students ranging from young beginners to Diploma levels, including adults. She has also been involved in group teaching through volunteer work with NAFA Preschool, the Children’s Cancer Foundation, and other organisations.
She recently completed her Professional Certificate in Dalcroze Eurhythmics and is pursuing the Licentiate certification. She believes in the Dalcroze approach, which places experience before theory and uses movement and creativity to help students internalise musical concepts. These principles guide her teaching practice in both individual and group lessons.
In addition to teaching, she enjoys collaborative music-making and has performed in ensembles and served as an accompanist at various events. She remains eager to learn and grow alongside her students and fellow educators.
