Yuet-Yang Siew was born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He earned both his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in Piano Performance from Missouri State University, where he studied under Dr. Wei-Han Su.
 

He recently completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance at the University of Oregon under the guidance of Dr. Brian Hsu. During his doctoral studies, he also completed specializations in Piano Pedagogy and Collaborative Piano, studying with Dr. Grace Ho and Dr. David Riley. Throughout his time at the University of Oregon, he performed in a wide range of settings, from intimate studio recitals to events attended by the university president.
 

An active soloist and chamber musician, Yuet-Yang has performed extensively in diverse venues and settings. In 2019, he was invited to present a series of recitals in Buffalo, New York, as part of the celebration of Poland’s Independence Day. Recognized for his exceptional musicianship, he was awarded First Prize in both the MMTA Competition and the J.D. Kelly Piano Competition, and was also inducted into Pi Kappa Lambda, the national music honor society.
 

As a graduate employee at the University of Oregon, Yuet-Yang served as a studio accompanist, class piano instructor, and taught in the Community Music Institute program. He served as President of the MTNA Collegiate Chapter at Missouri State University and later as Vice President of the University of Oregon chapter. Most recently, he and two colleagues from the University of Oregon delivered a successful presentation at the MTNA National Conference in Chicago.
 

In addition to his academic and performance activities, Yuet-Yang maintained a private piano studio of approximately 25 students. After spending a decade in the United States pursuing his education and professional development, he has returned to Southeast Asia to begin the next chapter of his career as a performer, educator, and collaborator.
